About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – CVICU (Cardiovascular/Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU)

Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holidays as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 16-bed Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2, with occasional 1:1 for TPA, balloon pump, or post-craniotomy recovery
• Titrate drips including sedation, paralytics, pressors, antihypertensives, heparin, and insulin
• Operate and monitor advanced equipment including Gaymar Hypothermia, Arrow Balloon Pump, Camino Neuro Monitoring, CRRT, Impella, EVDs, and lumbar drains
• Read and interpret cardiac telemetry monitor strips independently
• Manage patients across a broad acuity range including sepsis, STEMI, stroke, neurosurgery, renal failure, respiratory failure, COPD, cancer, and DKA
• Participate in bedside shift report and intentional hourly rounding in a fast-paced environment with eICU remote monitoring support

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Ability to pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• Compliance with facility fingernail policy: artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Must not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior ICU experience with exposure to complex, critically ill patient populations
• Experience managing ventilated patients and respiratory support equipment ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
• Ability to communicate effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse patient populations
• Strong critical thinking skills with a willingness to seek out resources and adapt to new clinical situations
