About the Role WETM 18 News is seeking a Production Assistant for our News Department. The main duties revolve around preparing the production for automated newscasts, including camera movement, graphics, and all tasks needed to produce a full newscast. If you are a successful internet gamer, you have considered a career that involves using computer software, and you would like to work in a fast‑paced environment where things can and do often change with little warning, then we’d like to speak with you. Responsibilities Compose and frame camera shots, applying the technical aspects of light, lenses, and camera settings to achieve the desired effects. Adjust camera positions and controls to change focus, exposure, and lighting as requested by the director. Operate studio cameras during live broadcasts. Operate remote cameras during live broadcasts. Consult with directors and other crew members to discuss sequences, desired effects, camera movements, and lighting requirements. Set up cameras and related equipment. Test, clean, maintain, and repair camera equipment. Produce graphics for the newscast. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements & Skills Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Compensation $16.00 per hour.
