Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing or a related field.
  • Good working knowledge of photography/videography software and workflow software platforms
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Excellent knowledge of mirrorless & DSLR camera systems to capture still photos and film video in a variety of location and studio settings, and of photo editing, video editing, audio editing and other post-production tasks
  • Creative, resourceful, flexible team player
  • Excellent collaborator. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues to successfully execute projects in support of marketing and business development goals

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary visual content creator for all Brenau University marketing, publications and university events, generating imagery and video coverage that conveys the Brenau brand in authentic, captivating, and genuine ways
  • Create visual content to support digital advertising and social media marketing campaigns
  • Develop and prioritize annual photography plan for major university events
  • Create and uphold the standard of visuals associated with the Brenau University brand
  • Manage the Brenau image archive and maintain digital assets by following a naming, tagging, and archiving structure to ensure that content is searchable by stakeholders
  • Build relationships across campus to learn and tell the stories of the Brenau community for use in marketing and recruitment materials
  • Hire and manage freelancers to supplement coverage and ensure quality work that enhances the university brand
  • Cultivate a positive experience with students, administration, faculty, staff, trustees, media members, donors, alumni and all other relevant university stakeholders
  • Work within strict timeframes and budgets
  • Distribute content to university stakeholders through required media in a timely fashion
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing or Executive Director of University Marketing & Enrollment Strategy

Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory responsibilities required.

Work Hours:
Full-time. 37.5 hours per week. Generally, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department. Nights/weekends as needed. Must be willing to frequently work flexible hours to ensure coverage of university functions and events. Often has to transport large amounts of equipment, set up and tear down photoshoots.

Appointment Length:

12 months, continuous

Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Willingness to spend long periods of time on feet and outside across all weather conditions is required for this position. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must have the ability to travel short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials. Exerting up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Special Requirements: Brenau University conducts various screenings to ensure a safe and secure environment. These checks are a condition of employment and may be performed at different times throughout employment. (1) Background Checks: All new hires must undergo a criminal background check. To maintain employment, individuals must have and maintain a favorable criminal history. The university may also conduct random background checks. Additional checks may be performed for certain roles. (2) Credit Checks: required for positions that handle university funds or credit cards or as otherwise required. (3) Motor Vehicle and Driving Checks: employees who operate a university vehicle or drive on university business must have a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) run as part of the new hire process or as the requirement to drive is added to job responsibilities. To be approved for university travel, employees must meet the following criteria: be at least 21 years old, have and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license, and have and maintain a good driving record. As a condition of employment, employees must report any arrest (within five days of its occurrence) to the Office of Human Resources, including traffic violations for those listed on our auto insurance policy. Disclosure of subsequent legal action (conviction, dismissal of charges, etc.) must also be reported to the Office of Human Resources. It will be evaluated considering continued employment with the immediate supervisor. (4) Drug Screening: pre-employment/post-offer drug screens and random drug screens are performed for certain sensitive positions. Random drug screens are also performed on those who travel regularly, or those who operate a university vehicle. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening.

Proof of any professional degree, license, or certification (collectively, “Credentials”) required to competently perform the work for which the employee is hired must have been submitted at the time of application for the position.
