Description

The Performing Arts Coordinator will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of inclusive, high-quality performing arts programs across a network of charter schools serving students with and without disabilities. This role ensures that all students have meaningful access to music, dance, drama, and creative movement as part of a well-rounded education. The coordinator collaborates with school-based arts specialists/paras, teachers, school leaders, and families to promote artistic expression, student confidence, and joyful learning. The position also provides interactive music sessions and instruction in a classroom setting at 3-4 campuses each semester for 50% of the time.

This is a school year position (196 days)

Job Responsibilities:

Program Development & Implementation

  • Develop and support a cohesive performing arts program for PreK-5th grade students that incorporates music, dance, drama and creative movement and reflects best practices in inclusive, developmentally appropriate instruction.
  • Create curriculum resources and performance opportunities that are accessible and engaging for students of all abilities and align to state standards.
  • Provide model lessons and co-teaching support to campus art specialists/paras.

Educator Support & Professional Development

  • Train and coach school-based art specialists/paras on inclusive arts instruction, classroom management through the arts, and strategies for students with diverse needs.
  • Facilitate collaboration across schools to share best practices, lesson plans, and showcase events.

Student Engagement & Events

  • Plan and coordinate school and network-wide student performances, arts showcase, and community celebrations.
  • Ensure all events are inclusive and accessible to students with and without disabilities.
  • Promote student leadership and participation in the performing arts.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Build partnerships with local artists, arts organizations, and cultural institutions to bring enrichment opportunities into classrooms including artist in residence.
  • Coordinate arts based field trips for students
  • Organize arts-based family engagement nights and support student performances that involve parents and caregivers.

Direct Instruction:

  • Provide direct, high quality performing arts interactive instruction and experiences for Pk – 12th grades
  • Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • Serve as lead for Summer Performing Arts Camp.

Record keeping:

  • Keep accurate records including budget, attendance/participation and any other required reports for grants.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Training:

Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Theatre Education, Performing Arts, Dance Education, Arts Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

Prefer Florida Teacher Certification/Statement of Eligibility in Theater/related field.

Minimum Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience teaching performing arts (music, dance, drama, theater, or creative movement) in a K–12 educational setting.

Experience developing and implementing standards-aligned performing arts instruction for diverse learners and inclusive instructional practices/UDL, and arts integration including students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms.

Experience planning, directing, and coordinating student performances, productions, showcases, and readers' theater events.

Experience collaborating with teachers, school leaders, paraprofessionals, families, and related service providers to support student learning and arts integration.

Experience providing instructional coaching, professional learning, and leadership support to educators and managing programs across multiple schools or campuses.
