Work Experience Six months Medical Assistant experience, preferably in ambulatory or community clinic setting. Two or more years of experience required for Pediatric Medical Assistant
Education High School diploma or equivalent plus completion of accredited Medical Assistant Training Program with internship; Certification preferred

Examples of Duties - Will function as support for Provider and responds to needs of the patients within the scope of their practice
- Document patient vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration and chief complaint for visit in EHR and report to the Provider any acute findings requiring immediate interventions.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and nursing care relevant to body systems.
- Observe patients, charting and reporting changes in patients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and taking any necessary action
- Document treatments and procedures completed. Observes/reports to provider and documents patient response to treatments and procedures according to policy/procedure.
- Prepare patients for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures
- File patient information in patient EHR record in a timely manner.
- Maintain the efficiency of the Clinical area by assisting with the stocking and reordering of supplies.
- Apply splints and providing care for orthopedic injuries as required
- Provide PPD testing as well as SQ, IM and ID Injection administration
- Administer medications as directed by the provider, start intravenous fluids if IV certified as directed by the provider
- Provide basic patient care or treatments, such as taking temperatures or blood pressures, dressing wounds
- Collect urine samples and perform routine tests directed by the Provider; prepare other specimens for testing or lab pickup
- Follow up on referrals weekly. Track all X-rays, labs, MRIs, CT scans, and other referrals requiring preauthorization
- Assist in training MA students. No student is to perform work for Peach Tree Healthcare without an employee present.
- Room patients promptly when updated to "Ready to room".
- Use masks, gloves and safety glasses to protect themselves and their patients from infectious diseases
TEAM LEAD - MEDICAL ASSISTANT
- Train new MAs and provide ongoing coaching in clinical procedures, workflow optimization practices, and NextGen
- Have a strong working knowledge of Quality Assurance (Le. MU, UDS, HEDIS) and can, at management's direction, implement Quality Improvements among your team
- Directing patient flow and MA tasks at the pod level, facilitating teamwork to ensure that providers and patients are getting excellent customer service
- Assisting in the orientation and training of MAs on our clinical procedures and workflow
- Assisting in the training of MAs and providers on using NextGen to meet our quality assurance and quality improvement goals
- Checking providers' schedules daily, making sure they conform to our scheduling policies; provide constructive feedback to the schedulers
- Leading team meetings and huddles with MAs to identify and remedy workflow, resource, IT, and scheduling issues; escalate these issues to the site lead, IT team, and/or COO as needed
- Assisting HR to update/revise policies that pertain to the clinic
- Maintain sufficient inventory of all VFC medications and place orders as necessary
- Monitor medication outdates and schedule returns for outdates; maintain required paperwork and logs
- Transfer VFC medications and track according to requirements - keep logs
- Enter pediatric medications into the CAIR system as required
- Twice daily refrigerator and freezer temperature checks, reporting any variances according to policy
- Maintain sufficient inventory of pediatric medical supplies and place orders as necessary
Additional Responsibilities - Follow up on patient no shows and recalls
- Check voicemail and e-mail throughout the day and return calls promptly as necessary
- Process all the paperwork in the Provider's outbox.
- Check fax/mail inbox for orders diligently.
- Retrieve specimens from the exam rooms (Strep tests, etc.)
- Check, clean and stock rooms regularly.
- Check that all exam equipment is functioning properly.
- Cell phones, texting, and internet use are prohibited unless on a rest or meal break.
- Be courteous when getting patient from the waiting area. Do Vital signs CORRECTLY including BMI for >2 years old. If there are red in readings, repeat for accuracy specially the Blood Pressure. If necessary, use right size cuff for manual reading.
- Demonstrate safe use of equipment and report malfunctions.
- Demonstrate principles of aseptic and sterile technique.
- Work as part of a healthcare team to assess patient needs, and assist co-workers as needed to ensure prompt patient care
- Coordinate referral of services to and from other Health Care Providers
- Practice within the scope of Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant education
- Attend staff meetings and mandatory staff training as required
- Assist in training new staff as needed
- Maintain a positive attitude towards patients and coworkers
- Other duties as required
Travel Requirements Occasionally may travel to other sites to attend meetings, training, or to cover other shifts.
