About the Club

For nearly 70 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue has been dedicated to providing safe spaces for Bellevue’s youth outside of school hours. We focus on serving neighborhoods with the greatest need, ensuring equitable access to life-enhancing programs centered on academics, health, and leadership. Our mission is to empower all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

Position Summary

The Licensed Preschool Coordinator plays a key role in supporting high-quality early learning experiences across multiple licensed preschool sites. Working under the Licensed Preschool Area Director, this position helps ensure curriculum excellence, program consistency, and compliance with Washington State licensing regulations. The coordinator provides hands-on support to lead teachers, assists with curriculum planning and implementation, monitors program quality, and helps maintain safe, developmentally appropriate learning environments.

In addition to supporting preschool classrooms, this role collaborates closely with stakeholders—including school district partners, internal program teams, and families—and supports K–5th–grade programs to ensure smooth transitions, aligned practices, and consistent communication across age groups.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys coaching and collaboration, and is committed to supporting young children’s growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instructional Support

  • Collaborate with the Area Director to develop, refine, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum plans aligned with organizational standards and Washington State Early Learning Guidelines.
  • Support lead teachers in lesson planning, classroom setup, and instructional strategies.
  • Model best practices in early childhood education through classroom observations, coaching, and feedback.
  • Contribute to curriculum design and ensure alignment across multiple sites.
  • Assist with planning and delivering professional development sessions and ongoing staff training.
  • Work with K–5th–grade members as needed to support aligned practices, shared expectations, and smooth transitions for children and families.

Quality Assurance & Program Support

  • Conduct regular classroom walkthroughs to assess program quality, safety, and adherence to curriculum expectations.
  • Provide coaching and follow-up support to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Help maintain consistent program practices across multiple preschool sites.
  • Support onboarding of new teaching staff, including orientation to curriculum, policies, and licensing expectations.
  • Support Early Achievers goals and quality improvement efforts.

Licensing & Compliance

  • Assist the Area Director in ensuring all preschool sites meet or exceed Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) licensing requirements.
  • Help maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance files.
  • Support preparation for licensing visits, quality assessments, and audits.
  • Monitor health and safety practices, including ratios, supervision, sanitation, and emergency procedures.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Support communication with families regarding curriculum, classroom activities, and program updates.
  • Participate in family events, open houses, and community engagement activities.
  • Promote a welcoming, inclusive environment for children and families.

Operational Support

  • Assist with scheduling, staffing coordination, and classroom coverage when needed.
  • Help maintain inventory of classroom materials and supplies.
  • Support implementation of organizational policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives.
  • Travel regularly between preschool sites within Bellevue as part of regular duties.
  • Provide occasional support to K–5th grade programs to ensure continuity of care and alignment across program areas.

Qualifications

  • Must meet Washington State licensing requirements for a Program Supervisor or equivalent role (e.g., ECE credits, STARS training, background check).
  • Preferably 30 college credits in Early Childhood Education or related coursework.
  • Experience supporting preschool and/or K–5th grade youth in educational or youth development settings.
  • Strong understanding of Washington State licensing regulations (DCYF), Early Achievers, and early learning best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and support teaching staff.
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with stakeholders, including families, school district partners, and internal program teams.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between sites during the workday.

Key Competencies

  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practice
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to compliance
  • Ability to build positive relationships with staff and families
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment

This role requires regular on‑site presence at preschool locations, frequent travel between sites, and the ability to meet the physical demands of working in early childhood settings, including sitting on the floor, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 40 pounds as needed to support classroom environments.
