Job Description

Position Summary:
Performs non-technical procedures in support of the testing process from initial set up of supplies to disposal of waste.

Essential Job Duties:
Handles serum, whole blood, and plasma samples.
Handles proper disposal of radioactive and biohazard waste.
Performs sample management tasks such as volumization, building samples into load lists, labeling and numbering of sample tubes.
Assists in locating missing samples and pulling specimens from freezer storage locations.
Perform daily and weekly preventive maintenance (PM) on Hamilton instruments.
Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies.
Documents all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.
Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job-related duties requested by department management.

Required Education/Degree:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Certification/License:
None

Required Work Experience:
Entry level. Training will be provided.
Physical Demands:
Requires utilization of fingers and hands, standing-remaining on ones feet in an upright position, sitting-remaining in the normal seated position, handling-seizing, holding, grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling.
Requires the ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Working Conditions:
There is regular exposure to potential blood-borne pathogens and radiation and walk-in freezers.
