Insurance Billing & Follow-Up Specialist II – Workers’ Compensation

Contract Length: 6–9 Months (Potential Extension)

Location: 100% Remote

Preferred Locations: Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Billing & Follow-Up Specialist II to support a Workers’ Compensation automation initiative within the Business Office. This is a remote, contract role with an initial duration of 6–9 months, with the possibility of extension based on business needs.

The ideal candidate will have a Workers’ Compensation background with a strong focus on denial follow-up and Epic experience. This role requires in-depth knowledge of billing, follow-up, and revenue cycle workflows, along with the ability to navigate complex claim scenarios across multiple systems and payer types.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end billing and follow-up functions to ensure timely and accurate claim resolution

• Investigate delayed, denied, rejected, pending, or unpaid claims to maximize reimbursement

• Resolve billing errors and system edits, including Stop Bills and “Do Not Bills (DNBs)”

• Ensure all claims are transmitted daily with complete and accurate documentation

• Verify insurance eligibility and claims status for unpaid accounts

• Review payment denials and discrepancies and take appropriate corrective action

• Submit replacement, cancellation, and appeal claims to third-party payers

• Perform charge corrections to ensure accurate billing of services

• Contact patients as needed to obtain required information for claim processing

• Work assigned account queues in adherence with departmental guidelines and productivity standards

• Collaborate directly with third-party payers and internal teams to resolve claims efficiently

Required Qualifications

• Workers’ Compensation experience with denial follow-up (required)

• Epic experience (required)

• Strong understanding of revenue cycle processes and claim workflows

• Experience working with payer platforms and insurance portals

• Ability to analyze data from multiple systems to support decision-making

• Reliable, dedicated work-from-home environment

• Medical billing experience

• Previous commercial billing experience

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.50/hr.
