Alameda Family Services (AFS) is a progressive, non-profit agency that provides clinically sophisticated, comprehensive mental health and early childhood educational and family support services to individuals and families in the City and County of Alameda. Programs include: Early Head Start, Head Start, Family Support Services, School Based Services, and Behavioral Health Care Services (Counseling and an APA- accredited Narrative Therapy Training Program). OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Crisis Services Director will oversee a variety of programs designed to support individuals and families experiencing urgent mental health needs. The Director will oversee our Community Assessment Response Engagement (CARE) Team program that provides both 24/7 on-call mental health consultation, follow-up case management and therapy services. Please note that the Alameda Fire Department (AFD) is the first responder in all cases.
We are looking for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as you may be called upon to provide emergency, clinical consultation during your workday to AFD when they are evaluating whether someone meets criteria for a 5150 or 5855.
In addition, the Crisis Director will develop and launch the agency’s commercial insurance funded Psychiatric Stabilization Team (PST). The PST program will deliver crisis stabilization services to children and youth at home using a clinical wraparound model.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Oversight, Supervision & Consultation
● Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Crisis Services Program.
● Provide program, clinical and case management supervision to assigned staff and interns.
● Offer consultation on high-risk cases, critical incidents, and complex clinical situations.
● Review trends and patterns emerging from call reviews, QA processes, and incident reports.
● Manage mental health programs, supporting program development, staffing, reporting, and coordination with stakeholders.
● Provide training, data collection, QI attendance and case conferencing support to Alameda Fire Department CARE Team members and leadership.
● Develop community partnerships to enrich existing programs to better meet the needs of our clients and families.
Clinical Authority
● Serve as the clinical authority for the crisis services programs.
● Provide oversight for suicide risk assessment, crisis response strategies, and client safety protocols.
● Responsible for data oversight and writing all program reports required by funders.
Quality Assurance & Risk Management
● Oversee clinical quality assurance systems, including documentation standards and corrective action processes.
● Participate in incident review and clinical compliance reporting.
● Ensure alignment with American Association of Suicidology (AAS) standards and California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) requirements.
Training & Leadership
● Provide relevant clinician and case management training to all staff and interns as part of the onboarding process as well as training to existing staff and interns as part of their professional competency development.
● Advise the Chief Executive Officer on clinical risk, staffing models, and program development.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Active, unrestricted California LCSW
● Minimum 5+ years post-licensure clinical experience
● At least two (2) years of direct clinical supervision of staff providing client-facing behavioral health or crisis services.
● Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision and crisis intervention
● Strong skills in clinical supervision, documentation, and quality assurance.
● Familiarity with California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) supervision and documentation requirements.
● Experience with clinical quality improvement systems or accreditation processes. xywuqvp
